Dot Com Infoway gets CMMI Level 3 Certification

DCI has been awarded CMMI Maturity Level (ML) 3 (version 1.2 Dev) certification for software engineering and organizational management from Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute (CMSEI).

2011-02-18
CHENNAI, INDIA, February 18, 2011 (Press-News.org) This prestigious certification is an international accreditation of the company's commitment to quality, developmental standards, delivery models and competency levels.

Compatibility Maturity Model Integration is now the prevalent standard for assessing the competence of a company in employing process based methodologies to software development. It is a process improvement approach that renders an organization the important elements for effective processes. CMMI certification from Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute is awarded only to companies with high organizational standards and effective project management processes. The companies which apply for the certification have to go through rigorous documentation processes to meet the software and organizational standards of CMMI.

Dot Com Infoway's CMMI Certification process began about year and a half ago. The Management of the company formed the SEPG (Software Engineering Process Group) team under the leadership of Ms. Kalai Selvi Vijayakumar, the Senior Technical Manager of DCI. The SEPG team prepared the "MyQMS" for the company in accordance with CMMI standards. Then, the team educated the entire organization and trained them on how to implement and improve quality in client projects. The final appraisal by KPMG happened in January 2011, and the results were announced after SEI completed the audit formalities. Projects in Software Development, Web Application Development and Enterprise Application Development from Chennai and Madurai developmental centers were appraised. Most of the projects were from publishing domain, e-service, legal domain, ERP, e-commerce and CRM. After the final audit, the company has been awarded with Compatibility Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Maturity Level (ML) 3 (version 1.2 Dev) certification.

This certification is a milestone in Dot Com Infoway's success graph as it is testament to the company's commitment to product quality and efficiency. Commenting on this, Mr. C. R. Venkatesh, CEO of the company said, "This is a crowning achievement in the company's growth chart. We're proud and happy to become part of the niche group of CMMI certified companies. I thank the CTO, the SEPG Team Lead and all those involved for their efforts in making this possible."

Mr. Vijayakumar Radhakrishnan, CTO of the company opined: "We always believe in delivering quality products to our customers and ML 3 certification reflects our determination to provide world class software development services." Commenting on the certification, Mr. Girish Ramdas, the President of the company said, "This is a remarkable feat for a company that is just a decade old. This goes to show that we're going strong and have it in us to make it big on a global level. We are working hard to further improve our quality system and go in for a CMMI Level 5 certification soon."

CMMI Level 3 certification has arrived at an important juncture as DCI has only recently expanded into a multinational company with marketing offices in the U.S.A. and Netherlands. The company is also planning for branch offices in Australia and Singapore in the near future.
