KIKEI, HI, March 03, 2011 (Press-News.org) 35 artists from Plein Air Painters of Hawaii who have successfully juried their paintings into the Annual Members Show will be vying for awards. PAPOH Members include Signature members and Artist Members from Hawaii and the mainland. All work was painted on location (en plein air) mostly in Hawaii. The 4th Annual Plein Air Painters of Hawaii Juried Members Show is being hosted by Maui Hands Gallery in Paia.
The public will get a chance to meet many of the artists and acquire paintings if they wish at the reception this Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. The work was juried for entry by L. Diane Johnson, founding editor of Plein Air Magazine. "There were many beautiful pieces in this show and it was difficult to judge. It was wonderful to see the joy and rapsody of colors, the wind, sun, shores and inland areas have to offer. Thank you for the opportunity to review these PAPOH member paintings!"
The awards judge is Billyo O'Donnell. "Artists inspired by the landscape have a deep connection to the beauty of land. I enjoy seeing the artists of Hawaii interpret the beauty here. It is similar to the French impressionists and how they found beauty in the surrounding landscape of France", says Billyo O'Donnell.
"Painting amidst the elements provides unique opportunities to capture fleeting light," says PAPOH Founder and President Jan Bushart. "All of us paint on location which gives us a very unique way of seeing nature and natural light. This is conveyed throughout the work."
PAPOH sponsors painting workshops and paint-outs on most Hawaiian islands in addition to their annual show.
Plein Air Painters of Hawaii has grown to 125 members over 5 years and has been published in Magazines such as International Artist Magazine. For more information about the organization or the show please go to http://www.PAPOH.com
