HOLLYWOOD, CA, April 07, 2011 (Press-News.org) Leading systems integrator for digital media and information technology, Integrated Media Technologies, Inc. (IMT), today announced it is offering EMC Isilon(r) scale-out NAS to better serve the burgeoning digital media and entertainment marketplace.
Scalability and simplicity of storage design has become an essential element in the production of highly technical feature films which incorporate advanced CGI, 3D animation and stereography.
"IMT is an expert in every aspect of media workflow," said Leonard Iventosch, vice president of channel and OEM, Isilon. "We've already collaborated on a number of large installations and in production studio environments, pre or post, IMT's expertise from software to network to data center infrastructure helps set best practices for the industry."
With Isilon, IMT can enable visual effects laden film and television productions to take advantage of any location and talent pool in the world, with the highest level of performance for computing, storing, and rendering the industry's most sophisticated imagery.
"We chose Isilon," stated IMT CEO Bruce Lyon, "because of their worldwide leadership in scale-out NAS for mission-critical applications with our media customers."
In addition to installations at a number of major motion picture studios, one particular case study demonstrated how IMT boosted the stereoscopic 3D pipeline throughput by a factor of four for I.E. Effects by deploying Isilon's IQ6000x storage system at the company's Culver City location. Recent I.E. Effects projects include "Gulliver's Travels," Michael Jackson's "This Is It," and new 3D attractions for the World's Fair in Shanghai, China.
The workflow at major studios and post production facilities requires varying capacity and performance storage systems. "Isilon is an ideal solution for media workflows," remarked Mike Braico, IMT Executive VP/Sales, "because its network attached storage (NAS) scale out storage platform enables our customers to easily grow and manage data efficiently."
