LOS ANGELES, CA, September 11, 2010 (Press-News.org) A Call for Contestants! "American Footy Star" Australian-Style Football Comes Charging into the United States with "American Footy Star": The Colorful and Competitive Search for the First American "Footy" Star!

Australia's premier and beloved national sport, Australian Football, known as "Footy" to millions of its fans around the world, comes to America to find the next "American Footy Star". The project was created and is produced by former Pro Soccer Player and former F.I.F.A. sports agent Miro Gladovic. Gladovic is searching for the first ever American to become a star of the Australian Football League (AFL). Gladovic brings his passion for Footy to fans with his unique way of introducing Australian Football to the United States. Gladovic will aim to select a winning candidate by September 18, 2010, and then launch combines around the United States with the intention of creating a made for television reality project entitled "American Footy Star".

AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou has mandated that "American Footy Star" seek out and find a great athlete from the United States and provide that athlete with an opportunity to compete in the Australian Football League. AFL CEO Andrew Demetriou astutely recognized that international athletes, especially from the United States, need to play in the AFL in order for the sport to expand and broaden it's worldwide following.

American Footy Star aims to not only find one candidate to go to Australia and potentially be drafted into the AFL by one of its 17 teams, but also looks to become a feeder system for American athletes looking to try their hand at this new talent pathway. Celebrity judges will include retired Australian Football League superstar players Jason McCartney, and Robert "Dipper" DiPierdomenico, and mentors will include Jimmy Bartel (Brownlow Medalist) and AFL Champ's Geelong Cats' Assistant Coach Brenton Sanderson.

Miro Gladovic has a diverse and accomplished background, encompassing both the entertainment industry, as well as professional sports. Miro was the youngest soccer player agent in the world to be accredited by the world's soccer governing body, F.I.F.A.
