LONDON, ENGLAND, April 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) It is not long until the London Australian Film Festival opens its doors and showcases the best cinema from down under.

The event runs from May 5th to 12th at the Barbican and will feature the UK premiere of Red Dog, an adaptation of the Louis de Bernieres novel.

It is the 17th year the occasion has been held and the organisers have pulled out all the stops to make it the best yet, with a horror bill entitled Dark Side of Down Under among the anticipated highlights.

Sundance Film Festival award winner Animal Kingdom is one of the most critically acclaimed movies on the agenda, telling the story of a young man's life in a criminal family.

In a statement, the venue said: "This year's showcase of Australia's finest films will have you smiling, crying, quaking and shouting for more with premieres of the latest features, documentaries, artist films and shorts shipped over from down under."
