Memorial Day Weekend Saturday event to open in Downtown Buchanan Michigan.

Buchanan, Michigan hosts its Summer kick-off celebrationSaturday of Memorial Day Weekend with live music, art, crafts, food, antiques, and shopping.
Un-Sanctioned begins with the opening of the Farmers' Market at 8am and concludes with live
music at 10pm. Following Un-Sanctioned 2010, which drew several thousand visitors,
Un-Sanctioned 2011 expands the number of contributing artists and musicians as well as regional
artisans, winemakers, antique dealers, galleries and museums within Buchanan's Downtown
National Register Historic District.
Offered in conjunction with the Wine & Craft Brew Garden at Mill Alley, the Music on Front Street
series features: The Dave & John Van Dyke Duo, HUTCH, Bill Bosler & Kevin Lockhart, Christina
Mays, and RUM BOOGIE. Appearing at the Buchanan Art Center at 5:30pm are the New Town
Cryers, featuring Terry Morlock and Tom Meldrim, followed at 7:00pm by singer Carol McKean, and
piano by Judith Gault. Performing at the Union Coffee House at 8:30pm, will be Riely OConnor and
Molly Moon.

Glass; Adam Davison, Wood and Leathers; Christina Root, Jewelry; Jan Quinn, Assemblage
Found Metal Sculpture; Greg Allen, Pottery; Anne Blackburn, Pottery and Jewelry; Ronda
Spaulding, Hand-Made Printed Cards; Misty LaViolette, Photographic Art and Accessories; Phyllis
Crawley, Fused Glass Art; Dave Wilkinson artist, stone sculpture and encaustics; and Linda Loca,
Accessories and Mixed-Media.
Alan Robandt is showing antiques, objects, mirrors, lighting and furniture. Almost Home Gallery &
Gifts will feature a mix of original art, including paintings, glass, pottery, jewelry and accessories.
FRONT Gallery will be exhibiting original works by Alexander Calder and featuring classic modern
home fashions and art. SL Consignment Gallery features artwork and eclectic vintage & antique
home furnishings. Slocum's Gifts, Decor & More will be offering a group of gifts for the home or
office. Thomas Jolly Home & Garden presents English Country and twentieth century designs.
West End Studios and Gallery at 999 West Front Street (1 mile west on Front Street) will be
representing a unique blend of pottery and art work of fourteen area artists.
The Buchanan Art Center repeats "Walk thru Raku," where visitors buy a bowl, glaze it, RAKU fire
it, and take it home, plus an annual book and video sale on the lawn. The Buchanan Preservation
Society offers tours of Pears Mill, the City of Buchanan's 1857 Greek Revival water powered mill.
The Buchanan Garden Club's annual plant sale takes place at Gazebo Park. Fernwood Botanical
Garden and Nature Preserve will open its gardens along the scenic St. Joseph River Valley. The
Buchanan Museum of Fine Art features Harry Ahn's oil painting retrospective and two early
twentieth century murals by Edward Buyck (represented in the White House, Vanderbilt and Getty
Museum collections), plus a collection of modern fine art.
Un-Sanctioned is also pleased to announce the grand opening of Sandy's Floral Boutique, which
features fresh flowers, balloon bouquets and gourmet gift baskets, and Dean Antiques, Buchanan's
newest antique store.
Back Door Cafe will present early visitors hearty breakfast fare and homemade cinnamon rolls.
The Buchanan Farmers Market will be offering seasonal local fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers
until 1pm. The Union Coffee House is offering fresh brewed organic, fair trade coffee & tea from
around the world. McCoy Creek Tavern (formerly known as Memories Tavern) features a selection
of craft brews on tap, good food and great times. Sweetie's Sweet Shop will feature home-made
caramel and cheese corn, chocolates, and Chicago style sandwiches. The Sweet Shop will be
offering a menu that includes Panini, ice creams and confections. Wheatberry Restaurant &
Tavern features award-winning pit barbecue, fresh-caught fish & seafood, prime steaks, free-range
poultry & vegetarian fare.
During Un-Sanctioned, visitors can also enjoy local eating establishments: B&W Olde Village Inn,
Fernwood Cafe, Tasty Chen's, Gary Z's, Hilltop Cafe, Milanos Pizza and Sonny's Restaurant. For
those wishing to partake of Buchanan's wine country, visitors are encouraged to also tour nearby
wineries that include Wyncroft Wines, Round Barn Winery, Domaine Berrien cellars, Tabor Hill
Winery, Free Run Cellars, Lemon Creek Winery, Hickory Creek Winery and Founder's Cellars.
