Used Car Buyers Shop Online Before Going to a Used Car Dealer

More used car buyers found the used auto they wanted by shopping on the Internet than buyers who found a second-hand car at a car dealer, according to a 2010 report.

2011-05-14
NASHUA, NH, May 14, 2011 (Press-News.org) More people shop for a used car online than the number of people who shop for a used auto at a dealership, and they prefer an independent used car web site rather than shopping at a dealership web site.

Nearly two thirds of all used car buyers began the shopping process for a used auto on the Internet, and 36 percent said they actually found the second-hand car they purchased online while only 26 percent said they found the used car they bought at a dealership, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Used Vehicle Market Report.

According to the same report, two-thirds of used car shoppers prefer independent sites such as http://www.OneOwnerCars.com rather than shopping on a local dealership.

"The trend of using online listings of used cars to shop is increasing rapidly among consumers," said Robert Younghusband, owner of OneOwnerCars.com. "In fact, J.D. Power found that using online independent listings to browse for used autos is up from 29 percent in 2003 to 51 percent in 2010," he explained.

OneOwnerCars.com independent web site is perfect for shoppers who want to look for a used car in the comfort of their home without any sales pressure. Dealers love the service because consumers come to them ready to purchase a specific car. Typically they look the car over, take it for a test drive, and then purchase it on the spot, all because they found what they wanted before arriving at the dealership, according to Younghusband.

The web site enables a shopper to do a search for available cars in their own local area. Each listing provides photos, a detailed description of the car and the condition, as well as the exact price. Shoppers say they like the fact that they can get all the factual details without any sales pressure.

There are thousands of dealerships both large and small that have used cars listed at OneOwnerCars.com all over the country. Shoppers enter their zip code to start searching. Personal information is not needed to shop for used cars on the web site, which takes away the fear many shoppers say they have that a used car salesperson will call them.

"We have well over 40,000 one-owner used cars listed on the site from all over the country, and anyone can search through them without giving their name or any identifying information. We make it easy to get factual information you can rely on," said Younghusband.

"The independent used car web site at http://www.OneOwnerCars.com is rapidly becoming the most popular place to shop for a quality second-hand car," said Younghusband.

OneOwnerCars.com specializes in listing only Carfax or Auto Check one-owner
used cars offered by local dealerships in local areas throughout the country.
