HONOLULU, HI, May 26, 2011 (Press-News.org) The CIO Utilities Summit team announced today agenda details for the upcoming event, including a CIO Thought Leadership session on smart grid security.
The CIO Utilities Summit, June 12-14, 2011 in Scottsdale, Arizona, will bring together CIOs, IT executives, industry analysts and solution providers to network and attend interactive agenda sessions. Held in a relaxed, yet focused setting, the technology event is an opportunity to make new business contacts, exchange best practices, and learn about new technology solutions.
The CIO Thought Leadership session "Securing Utility Infrastructure: Beyond Blocking & Tackling" will outline security best practices and methodologies for utilities organizations. The session will explain why a defensive approach to cyber security threats, which have become more complicated to address due to the interconnectedness of smart grid technologies, is not enough to protect assets and why companies need to implement a continuous risk management program in order to stay ahead of attackers.
The agenda session will be led by a representative from Lockheed Martin, a global security company and a premier provider of sustainability solutions for federal, state and local agencies, utility and commercial customers.
"CIOs and IT executives in the utilities industry are concerned about smart grid security and are looking for best practices and tactics that will help them keep their data and their customers' information safe. Cyber security threats are escalating every day and it's important for technology leaders to get ahead of them," said Christian Morato, Event Director, CIO Utilities Summit.
