SAN DIEGO, CA, May 31, 2011 (Press-News.org) In honor of the military, San Diego Self Storage (SDSS) is launching a collection drive to benefit Homefront San Diego, a non-profit organization that provides active military families with ongoing needs in San Diego County. The collection will be conducted June 1 through June 30, 2011 by all 16 SDSS self-storage San Diego facilities in the following communities: Carlsbad; Carmel Valley; East Lake; Encinitas; Golden Triangle; Jamacha Point; La Jolla; Mira Mesa; National City; North County (Escondido); Temecula; Olivenhain; Otay Crossing; Otay Mesa; Poway; Solana Beach; Sorrento Mesa and Sorrento Valley. The public is invited to participate by dropping off items which are in constant need by military families: gently used furniture (dining tables and chairs, end tables, dressers, lamps); baby items (new packages of diapers and baby wipes, baby shampoo and lotion, gently used children's clothing, cribs and mattresses, new car seats); gift cards (grocery cards in any denomination, gas cards for active military personnel who need to drive themselves or their children to medical appointments).

According to Steven Teixeira, SDSS Director of Property Management, "It came to our attention that there are an increasing number of military personnel who have been relocated to San Diego from active duty who have immediate needs that cannot be filled through traditional military channels ---- it's our goal to help fulfill those needs by providing easy access to drop off points throughout the county. We welcome participation from the general public to donate items as large as furniture to as small as bottles of baby shampoo." A campaign kick-off event is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the SDSS facility located at 10531 Sorrento Valley Road in San Diego during which items will be collected from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Additionally, the public may drop off items at all 16 SDSS locations throughout the month of June; locations and office hours of operation are located at the SDSS website.

Founded in 1972, San Diego Self Storage is one of the largest self-storage providers in San Diego County with a network of 16 neighborhood self-storage facilities and additional facilities in Los Angles and Orange County.
