Rapid City Helps Travelers Fight High Gas Prices

The Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is trying to help visitors have more fun and stay on budget with the 2011 Black Hills Coupon Book.

2011-06-08
RAPID CITY, SD, June 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) With gas prices climbing more than a dollar per gallon in the past year, travelers are spending a larger portion of their budget on transportation. As a result, they have less to spend on other parts of their vacation. Now the Rapid City Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is trying to help visitors have more fun and stay on budget with the 2011 Black Hills Coupon Book.

"The coupon book offers a total of $2,200 in discounts and free offers this year," says Michelle Lintz, Executive Director of the Rapid City CVB. "We think the coupon book will be extremely helpful for vacationing families who are spending $15 to $25 more each time they fill up their tanks."

According to a USA Today/ Gallup Poll, six out of 10 Americans say it's important to get away from home this year. Nearly half expect to pay more for food, lodging and entertainment.

"The CVB wanted to take another step to help travelers focus on vacation, not expenses," says Lintz. "Visitors can print a coupon from our website to receive an additional discount on the coupon book."

The special three-dollar coupon is available at http://www.VisitRapidCity.com/coupon. The Black Hills Coupon Book can be purchased for $17 instead of the regular price of $20 at the Rapid City Visitor Information Center located at 444 Mt. Rushmore Rd. N. The Information Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Only cash payments are accepted.

The Rapid City Convention and Visitors Bureau is a division of the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce. The CVB's mission is to market the Rapid City area as a convention and leisure destination and to promote economic growth that will enhance the area for visitors and residents.
