CHESTER, VA, June 15, 2011 (Press-News.org) WHAT: Stella Waltz, owner (with husband Jesse Waltz, P.E.) of JES, a Chesterfield-based foundation repair and waterproofing company, will culminate the business' third annual flag collection drive by giving a special presentation about the history of the American flag, flag etiquette and flag retirement to students at Spring Run Elementary School on Flag Day, June 14th.
WHEN: June 14, 2011 - Flag Day
12:30 PM
WHERE: Spring Run Elementary School
Mrs. Keller's Class Room
13901 Spring Run Road
Midlothian, VA 23112
ONSITE CONTACT: Sandra Blankenship, Principal - phone: 639-6352
WHY: Stella's passion for the proper care of the American flag is inspired by her father, Retired Chief Petty Officer Felix Maurizio, a WWII veteran residing in Norfolk, who participated in the Invasion of Normandy on D-Day, 1944, landed the marines on Iwo Jima in 1945, and participated in the Invasion of Okinawa two months later. Not knowing what to do with old, faded American flags that she had collected over the years, Stella learned that certain civic organizations like the Boy Scouts actually perform a retirement ceremony to say farewell to them according to United States Code. She felt that others probably didn't know what to do with their old flags either, so three years ago she started an annual collection, and the flags have been pouring in ever since.
JES will continue to accept old, faded and tattered flags throughout the month of June at their Chester office located at 2410 Southland Drive. At the end of the collection, the flags will be turned over to Chester-based Boy Scout Troop 2815 where they will be properly retired during a special flag ceremony in the fall.
JES is a structural engineering solutions firm specializing in residential and commercial foundation repair, basement waterproofing systems, and crawl space moisture control systems. For more information contact us at 877-JES-WORK or at http://www.jeswork.com.

The original oil painting is currently being exhibited in London, transferring to the Royal West of England Academy for a short period in July and August.
