LateRooms.com - Discover Marc Desgrandchamps in Paris

A solo exhibition of Marc Desgrandchamps's work is on display in Paris until September 4th 2011.

2011-06-24
PARIS, FRANCE, June 24, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris (MaM) is offering travellers the chance to get to know a stunning artistic talent by the name of Marc Desgrandchamps.

It will be on show until September 4th 2011 and includes a range of work by the Frenchman, from some of his early images in the 1980s to his most recent creations.

Desgrandchamps's paintings often have explicit references to cinema, giving them a wider appeal and achieving a peculiar drama within each scene.

There is an alluring combination of fantasy and reality in his paintings, which has become even more complex as he has matured as an artist.

"Despite their architectural feel, his paintings are a mix of opacity, transparency and overlay, with their fluid, almost liquid colours and blurred outlines combining to provide their forms with a surprising materiality," noted the venue in a statement.

Admission is charged at EUR7 (GBP6.20). The MaM is open from 10:00 to 18:00 local time from Tuesday to Sunday, with late closing on Thursday, when it shuts at 22:00.

The closest Metro station is either Alma-Marceau or Iena.

LateRooms.com offers a wide variety of Paris hotels that may appeal to art enthusiasts, including the Hotel Bastille Paris.
