WINCHENDON, MA, September 18, 2010 (Press-News.org) Saloom Furniture's newest collection of modern dining furniture, "Skyline," is now available for consumers seeking simple, strong and sculptural solid wood pieces scaled for city spaces.
The line offers a rare position in the contemporary dining furniture market. Saloom has incorporated the influence of years of traditional craftsmanship into the original designs, with solid maple tops and bases and mortice and tenon joint construction. The sets also feature ergonomically shaped seven-layer plyshell chairs that offer "flex" when you sit in them for added comfort.
"I took the concept of 'less is more' to heart in designing 'Skyline,'" Peter Saloom, the company's co-owner and the designer behind the line, said. "'Skyline' has bold geometry with nothing extra, yet it is very expressive."
Saloom, who founded the company 28 years ago with his wife Linda, said he decided to design the pieces out of his passion for modern-style furniture. Retailing for under $2,000, the sets are designed for smaller dining areas in urban environments.
"I know that contemporary is the No. 1 style category in furniture, but that's not why I designed 'Skyline,'" he said. "I designed it because I just love modern design. Fortunately, we were able to bring a unique twist to the contemporary furniture market with American-made, solid wood, affordable dining furniture."
"Skyline" includes five dining tables, six dining chairs and one serving piece. The pieces are available in a range of finishes from light colors, like bleached, to darker ones such as java.
The new collection began shipping to retail outlets last month and is available now. Custom orders can be produced in four weeks. For more information about "Skyline," and other Saloom products, visit http://www.saloom.com.
