Welty Building Company Completes Construction Of Durham Public Schools City Of Medicine Academy

Local North Carolina Commercial Building Firm Constructs Public School For Students In Pursuit Of Healthcare-Related Careers In $7 Million Project

RALEIGH, NC, October 05, 2011 (Press-News.org) Tom Adams, president and chief operations officer of Welty Building Company, LLC, a commercial building firm providing traditional construction management, general contracting, development and energy assessments for the healthcare, education and not-for-profit industries, has announced that the firm has served as the builder for the recently opened City of Medicine Academy, a 40,000-square-foot building with a cost valued at $7 million in Durham, N.C. A three-story facility, the school holds up to 400 high school students in pursuit of healthcare-related careers, providing specialized health science programs and healthcare-related internships. The educational program, which initially began in 2008, operated until completion at a separate location at 4100 N. Roxboro Road in Durham. Built adjacent to Durham Regional Hospital, the program was a collaboration funded from a bond referendum and program supported by Durham Public Schools, Duke University, Durham Technical Community College, North Carolina Central University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
