LateRooms.com - Rome Accordion International Festival Poised to Kick Off

Fans of accordion music should be sure to book their tickets to Rome soon, as the only international contest is due to take place in October.

2010-09-23
ROME, ITALY, September 23, 2010 (Press-News.org) Music fans could experience a unique kind of event during their stay in Rome this autumn, as the Roland V-Accordion International Festival is rolling into town.

According to the organisers, the occasion is the only competition in the world solely devoted to the digital accordion.

As well as being an unusual and entertaining contest, guests booked in at 5 star hotels in Rome will be happy to hear that it is free to enter.

It takes place on October 16th at the Parco della Musica, with the show kicking off at 21:00 local time.

Travellers who love the sound of the accordion have a great evening in store, since many quality musicians enter the contest.

The 2010 edition is the fourth annual event, with two prizes being battled over by participants - the senior soloist and young soloist accolades.

Accordion players must be born before or after April 1st 1990 respectively to be eligible for each award.

"A jury evaluates the artists' performances based on their playing skill, creativity and abilities, thus pushing the potential of the V-Accordion models beyond folk music," explained travel listings site What's on When.

It revealed how the aim of the event is to introduce more people to this fun and peculiar instrument.

For more information on this event visit the Roland V-Accordion International Festival website or contact the venue on +39 06 80241281.

It had been a location of yearly vacations for my brothers and I when we were young. Like many other children, we would ride in the back seat of a car heading to Long Beach Island for a week in July or August and hope that the weather and waves would be kind and good. So many memories of the drive from Brooklyn through New Jersey led me and my brothers to venture down to Seaside Heights, the town of Sun & Fun, during the Clown Festival which has occurred in September of every year for nearly three decades, and which our father was, oddly enough, very fond of. Perhaps ...
