LateRooms.com - Excitement Grows for New York's Tribeca Film Festival

New comedy The Five-Year Engagement is set to open this year's Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

NEW YORK, NY, March 13, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Tribeca Film Festival returns to New York for its 11th edition on Wednesday April 18th.
 
Founded in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11th 2001, the festival was set up by Hollywood star Robert De Niro, film producer Jane Rosenthal and investor Craig Hatkoff.
 
The event has now screened more than 1,300 movies since its inception and attracted a total audience of more than 3.7 million people to the Manhattan district where it is based.
 
This year's edition will kick off with the world premiere of The Five-Year Engagement, a new romantic comedy directed by Nicholas Stoller and starring Jason Segel, who also wrote the script.
 
Other films due to be shown during the 12-day festival include Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz and Trishna, a Thomas Hardy adaptation that stars Indian actress Freida Pinto of Slumdog Millionaire fame.
 
As well as the screenings, there is a full programme of talks, panel discussions and seminars for those who want to experience more.
 
General screening tickets are priced at $16 (GBP10.20) for evenings and weekends, or $8 for matinee and late-night showings. Entry to events in the Tribeca Talks programme costs $25.
