ChartSwap Partners with ApeniMED to Offer a Self-Service CMS Audit Response Tool

CLEAR LAKE SHORES, TX, March 29, 2012 (Press-News.org) ChartSwap, a Houston-based SalesForce ISV Partner, has partnered with ApeniMED, a certified Health Information Handler (HIH), to offer ApeniMED eAudit, an esMD (Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation) solution available as of March 28, 2012. ApeniMED's CONNECT-compliant esMD Gateway offers health care providers a method to respond to audit requests issued by Medicare audit contractors. This HIPAA-compliant Release of Information portal connects providers electronically to the Nationwide Health Information Network (NwHIN) and facilitates secure document upload and submission directly to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). CMS contractors can then access requested documents via this common network.

CMS created the esMD program to allow providers to electronically submit medical documentation in response to Medicare fee-for-service audits, including RACs, ZPICs, PERT and CERT. For the benefit of its members, ChartSwap is upending traditional business models and absorbing the cost of ApeniMED's eAudit esMD solution on behalf of health care providers who participate in ChartSwap.
