Christopher K. Horne becomes chief technical officer at LBA Group Inc. and heads to conference in Russia

Telecommunications industry innovator LBA Group Inc. has named Christopher K. Horne, PhD, its chief technical officer just weeks before he leaves for Russia as the sole representative of the United States at a technology conference.

2010-08-19
GREENVILLE, NC, August 19, 2010 (Press-News.org) Telecommunications industry innovator LBA Group Inc. (http://www.lbagroup.com) has named Christopher K. Horne, PhD, (http://antennablog.lbagroup.com/christopher-horne-lba-group-chief-technical-officer/) its chief technical officer. The registered professional engineer officially joined the Greenville firm Aug. 2 - three weeks before he leaves for Russia as the sole representative of the United States at a technology conference.

In May, the 43-year-old Horne completed his doctorate in electrical engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, collaborating on two papers on fiber optic devices and completing a dissertation on nonlinear fiber optics.

One of the papers - "GAWBS and Its Effect on SBS Based Slow Light in Optical Fibers" - was selected for presentation at the 2010 ICONO/LOT School for Young Scientists in Kazan, Russia, Aug. 23-27. The conference attracts scientists involved in fiber optic communications and other applications of the technology. He is the only American among this year's 50 presenters.

While completing his graduate work over the last decade, Horne immersed himself in the wireless industry, most recently as manager of a multi-million-dollar advanced cellular network for North State Communications. His interest in communications began as a ham radio enthusiast at age 12. He stayed involved with shortwave radio and in 2007 was issued the Federal Communication Commission's top amateur license - Extra Class. (Horne's call letters are W4CKH.)

Horne actually is returning to LBA. He was a project engineer in the company's radio frequency safety program 15 years ago shortly after earning his bachelor of mathematics degree from North Carolina State University.

"We are extremely pleased to have Chris rejoin us at LBA," says Jerry Brown, LBA Group president. "His experience and talent will give LBA Group yet another dimension of expertise as we strive to meet the demands of a vibrant, technically evolving wireless industry."

LBA Group, Inc. has more than 40 years experience in providing support for infrastructure assets of the wireless telecommunications industry. Companies in the group are LBA Technology (http://www.lbagroup.com/technology/index.php), a leading manufacturer and integrator of radio frequency systems, components and test equipment for broadcast, industrial and government users worldwide, and Lawrence Behr Associates (http://www.lbagroup.com/associates/index.php), a technical consultancy.

When choosing a product, ask your dentist ...
