2012-08-25
BOCA RATON, FL, August 25, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (IMACS) is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new facility in Boca Raton. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on site at IMACS Boca Raton (23172 Sandalfoot Plaza Dr) at 5:30pm on Wed, Aug 29, followed by an evening of festivities. Parents, children and members of the community are welcome to come over to enjoy the food, beverages, logic puzzles and games and tour the new facility.

At the grand opening celebration, IMACS will conduct Computer Programming & Virtual Robotics and Mathematics Enrichment demonstration classes. Children are free to participate in the demonstration classes, and adults are welcome to observe. Parents may RSVP by calling 561-470-1178.

The new Boca Raton space - including four math classrooms and a computer lab - will allow for an extended class schedule to meet the growing demand for enrichment classes in the Boca Raton and North Broward area. "We're happy to better serve North Broward and Boca Raton families who are looking for ways to grow their children's critical thinking skills outside of school hours," said Terry Kaufman, IMACS president.

In addition to opening a new center, this year IMACS is celebrating the start of its 20th year in business. Since IMACS first opened its doors in Plantation in 1993, it has been giving talented first through twelfth graders a competitive edge by teaching them how to think critically using logic and reasoning. Students learn high level math and computer science through an innovative and challenging curriculum designed to engage bright young minds.

IMACS has grown from a humble beginning of 37 students to almost 1,000 students throughout Broward County and Boca Raton. IMACS graduates have attended MIT, Yale, Caltech and Penn. In addition to the new Boca Raton center, IMACS operates after-school, weekend and summer camp classes in Plantation, Weston, Miramar and Fort Lauderdale. IMACS also serves students throughout the United States and the rest of the world through its online, distance-learning program in computer science and mathematical logic.
