Katonah Art Centers Opens Its New Dance Studio

2012-08-30
KATONAH, NY, August 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) Katonah Art Center is hosting its Grand Opening of Katonah Arts Performing Arts on September 9th, from 12pm to 3pm, at 131 Bedford Road in Katonah. This celebration marks the opening of Katonah Art Center's newly renovated dance studio, and will preview some of the new dance classes. A true celebration, the opening will also have face painting, balloons and live music.

In addition to the usual open house fare of Life Drawing, Painting, Pottery and Arts and Crafts, the Grand Opening will offer free performing arts classes throughout the day.

The classes are all designed to get participants moving and having fun, regardless of their age or level of dance experience. The hip-hop class, in particular, will feature dances that kids can easily learn, such as the Cotton Eyed Joe, as well as new twists on old dances, like the Electric Slide.

"I'm very excited to be adding performing arts to our program" says Loren Anderson, director and founder of the Katonah Arts Center. "I think the open house is a great way to introduce the community to our new offerings."

Miss Patti and the Feeling Groovy Band, a children's music group, will be providing live music outside at 3pm (weather permitting, if not they will perform inside).

"This day will have something for everyone, from preschoolers, to teenagers to adults," adds Ms. Anderson. "Take a class, get your face painted, or just have some popcorn and enjoy some great company."

The times for the classes are as follows: Gentle Yoga noon, Vinyasa Yoga 12:30, Beginner Yoga 1pm, Hip-Hop 2-3pm, Acting noon and 1pm, Tap (bring your shoes if you have them!) 12:30pm, Jazz 1:30pm, CardioDance 2pm, Tai Chi 2:30pm.
