Saint James Band Announces Show Schedule with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

Saint James Band will share the stage with friends and family from Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros along with Clap Your Hands Say Yeah at one of Florida's premier live music venues.

2012-09-30
ST. PETERSBURG, FL, September 30, 2012 (Press-News.org) The Saint James Band with their Americana folk rock and roots influences, combine intricate finger picking; slide guitar and twangy, hard-driven, electric power chords. They will remind you of Neil Young, they will remind you of Eric Clapton. They will make you think good thoughts and feel good about yourself and your life, which is exactly what frontman /bandleader George Castrinos (vocals/lead guitar) wants this project to do. And it's that feel good vibe and energy that makes them a natural opener for the dynamic and charismatic Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros at Jannus Live.

In early 2011, Castrinos formed the Saint James Band where tales of redemption, salvation, forgiveness, and (ultimately) love became the subjects of his songwriting. Some of the lyrics are based on ancient spiritual teachings. Title track, "Love You All" is part of a prayer that you say throughout the day that goes, "What would you have me do? Where would you have me go? What would you have me say and to whom? And the answer that came to Castrinos; "You walk tall. You hold your head high. You look people in the eyes and you tell no lies."

Packing in venues throughout Texas, Georgia and Ohio, the band seems unstoppable and they've kicked it up a notch rolling out with dates that include opening for the iconic Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The band's success has been largely the result of Castrinos' stick-to-itiveness and this tour is based on his determination to move the group forward. The current lineup consists of Ethan Yeager (Drums), Curran McDowell (bass). "Every member of this band has a great talent and heart," explains Castrinos.

Castrinos—who grew up in Florida is excited to be back in his hometown of St. Petersburg, performing on stage with his daughter Jade Castrinos (lead vocalist for Edward Sharpe). Local entrepreneur, restaurateur and businessman Frank Chivas who is hosting a show in Clearwater on September 29, says, "It's great to see my good friend George and my Goddaughter Jade, reunited, playing on the same stage in their hometown. How amazing is it that a father gets to open for his daughter?"

Castrinos sees Saint James Band as a way to unite people. "I want people to know that there's a better way to live. Through discipline of your thoughts and actions you can somewhat control your destiny. If our songs can instill hope in people and give them a renewed sense of purpose than I've done my job." The LP Who You Are is available on iTunes.

Step back in time and take in the atmosphere of the doom and gloom the poor unfortunate residents of the workhouse would have felt from the moment they stepped through the door. This rhyme tells the story of many a working man's life in the 19th Century. The rather elegant building in Allhallowgate, standing in grounds graced with flower beds, trees, lilacs and even a passion flower, seems far ...

Statute of Limitations for Certain Sex Crimes in Kansas Extended

2012-09-30
While many of us have heard the phrase "statute of limitations," we may not understand its legal meaning. Put simply, a statute of limitations prevents a legal cause of action from being brought after a certain number of years. The statute of limitations applies to the civil justice and criminal justice worlds, and the purpose behind the law is that individuals should be allowed to continue to live their lives without fear of litigation or prosecution after so much time has passed after an incident occurs. Recently, the statute of limitations in Kansas that applies ...

Kansas Court of Appeals Rules Recidivist Law for Sex Offenders Is Too Harsh

2012-09-30
The Kansas Court of Appeals recently ruled the imposition of lifetime post-release supervision for a sex offender who committed a low-grade felony is unconstitutional. The court compared the recidivist statutes for sex offenders to the corresponding rules for murderers and found "even murderers are not treated so harshly." With that finding, the court concluded that the lifetime post-release supervision of a young Kansas man violated the Eighth Amendment's protection from cruel and unusual punishment. The court's ruling stems from a case that began in 2009. ...

Highway Safety Organization Adopts Stronger Distracted Driving Policy

2012-09-30
Most Indiana drivers have seen someone behind the wheel of a car, holding a cellphone and seemingly oblivious to much of what is going on around them. Some drivers would admit to engaging in this behavior themselves. Most people are probably not aware of the dangers of distracted driving and therefore are not motivated to improve their driving habits, but the Governors Highway Safety Association hopes to change that with a new policy on distracted driving. Recently the GHSA adopted a new policy supporting a ban on handheld cellphone use for all drivers. Presently only ...
