ATLANTA, GA, October 14, 2010 (Press-News.org) The Georgia Handball Club based out of Atlanta is a new team handball club accepted and supported by the USA Team Handball Association. The establishment of the club was possible by the dedication to the sport of Damir Hecimovic (Coach) who played professionally in Bosnia. With the help of the USA Team Handball Association Damir has recruited players that are new to the sport or have played the sport at various levels in other countries. Team Handball is an Olympic sport and the current make up of the Georgia Handball Club reflects this. Players on the roster originate from countries including Germany, France, Poland, Nigeria, Tunisia, Slovakia, Serbia, & Bosnia. "Atlanta is an international city, our club proves this. It wouldn't be possible to start a new team handball club without the international community" explained Damir. Damir hopes that the mix of players new to the sport who are mostly American and the veterans from other countries will raise the profile of the sport in Georgia. He hopes the first year club that will be competing in the South East Handball League will make it to the National Tournament.
