NJ Association of Verismo Opera Launches 23rd Season: Love, Comedy, Obsession & Tragedy. Open Auditions to be Held at Bergen Performing Arts Center

Verismo Opera will hold open auditions on January 7 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, New Jersey for soloists to appear in the company's productions of I Pagliacci, Gianni Schicchi, Cavalleria Rusticana and Suor Angelica in 2013.

FORT LEE, NJ, December 09, 2012 (Press-News.org) The New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera (Verismo Opera), the only grand, professional opera company based in northern New Jersey, is celebrating its 23rd season with the launch of its new season -- Love, Comedy, Obsession and Murder.

Artistic Director and Met Opera luminary Lucine Amara invites soloists to audition for all roles in the company's new productions of Ruggiero Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci and Giacomo Puccini's Gianni Schicchi to be performed on Sunday, April 21 at 3:00 p.m. and Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana and Puccini's Suor Angelica on Sunday, October 20 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bergen Performing Arts Center (bergenPAC) in Englewood, New Jersey.

Open auditions will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the bergenPAC in the Cabaret Room, 30 North Van Brunt Street. Boys, nine to eleven years of age, with a soprano voice are invited to apply for the role of Gherardino in Gianni Schicchi.

The application deadline is December 31, 2012. An accompanist will be provided. For an audition appointment, call 201-562-5666 or 201-886-0561. Applicants must submit a bio, resume, photo and an audio file, preferably in an MP3 format or on a CD, by the application deadline to Verismo Opera Inc., P.O. Box 3024, Fort Lee, New Jersey 07024-9024.

The NJ Association of Verismo Opera has been a part of the New Jersey music scene since 1989. The opera company, a nonprofit organization based in Fort Lee, New Jersey, provides performing opportunities for young musicians and artists.
