Aaron Zigman Scores First Animated Film Escape From Planet Earth

Escape From Planet Earth Continues to Shine at Box Office

2013-03-27
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA, March 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) ward winning composer Aaron Zigman scores The Weinstein Co.'s ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH, which remained in the box office top ten films for over five weeks since its release February 14, 2013. Notably, the film was in the top four box office receipts during it's first two weeks in release. ESCAPE FROM PLANET EARTH marks Zigman's first animated feature. Zigman recorded the nearly two-hour score with a 100 piece orchestra and choir at Abbey Road Studios in London. The soundtrack is available on Sony Classical.

Directed by Callan Bunder (Despicable Me), Escape from Planet Earth follows the story of blue planet hero Scorch Supernova, a master of daring rescues, with the quiet-aide of his brother Gary. Scorch pulls off astonishing feats, but when he embarks on his latest journey to an "alien" planet- Earth- it is up to Gary to save him. Escape features the voices of Brendan Fraser, Ricky Gervais, Rob Corddry and Sarah Jessica Parker. Gliding between genres, composer Aaron Zigman has scored comedy, romance, drama, and action with equal artistry. For Escape, Zigman created an homage to the classic action adventure score. Zigman stated, "Musically this is my most ambitious project, with 100 musicians and choir."

With a classical musical background and an early career as a session musician and songwriter, Aaron Zigman brings a unique blend to modern film composing. With over 50 credits to his name, Zigman's vast array of work includes the romantic Nicholas Sparks novel adaptation The Notebook, the Sex and the City films based on the hit HBO series, and the inspirational drama Akeelah and the Bee. Zigman has scored numerous Tyler Perry films, from the comedy Madea's Witness Protection to the drama For Colored Girls for which Zigman wrote an opera which he conducts onscreen in the film. His instrumental ballad "Steve's Song," from his score for the film The Last Song, debuted at number one on the Billboard soundtrack charts. Zigman has received an Emmy award and numerous BMI Film & TV Music Awards.
