Citybuzz Marketing Look At Effect Of The Cold Weather On Business

With a mean temperature of 2.2C, March was the second coldest since records began and Citybuzz Marketing explore how British business has been affected.

2013-04-06
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, April 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) Citybuzz Marketing have been enduring the freeze along with the rest of Britain and hear that the Federation of Small Businesses have just announced that members were "particularly hard-hit" in March.

Businesses where cash flow is vital, such as restaurants and bars, are really suffering, it said. Estimates vary widely about the full extent of the overall cost to the UK economy of the cold weather but approximations suggest that one-fifth of the economy has been affected, costing about GBP1bn every day.

Some industries will suffer a temporary hit, analysts say. For example, construction projects will be put on hold until the weather improves. But other sectors, particularly retail and leisure, could lose out on business entirely, with potentially severe consequences for some small businesses.

The Federation of Small Business said it was "disappointed that we still haven't learnt the lessons from previous bad weather and that the country has yet again ground to a halt". However, it said small businesses were better prepared for this cold snap than those in previous years.

Citybuzz Marketing have are fortunate to have seen an increase in profits on their first quarter results from 2012 but they too along with the rest of the country are hopefully awaiting some warmer spring temperatures and wish all the best to the small businesses who are suffering at this time.
