OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, April 06, 2013 (Press-News.org) The Institute for Economic Empowerment of Women (IEEW) (http://ieew.org), a nonprofit organization that encourages women's leadership and entrepreneurship through education and mentoring initiatives, has announced that CEO Dr. Terry Neese has earned the 2014 Enterprising Women Legacy Award by Enterprising Women magazine. Neese will receive the honor during the 11th annual Enterprising Women of the Year Awards Celebration on Thursday, April 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Enterprising Women Legacy Award seeks to recognize women in the Enterprising Women community who have given back in an extraordinary way. Neese was chosen based on her continued dedication to educating and empowering women across the globe economically, politically and socially.
Based in Oklahoma City, Okla., Neese established IEEW to reach her goals of helping women across the nation as they acquire the entrepreneurial skills necessary to help start and grow a business. She quickly developed IEEW's PEACE THROUGH BUSINESS Program, a business training and mentorship program for women entrepreneurs in Afghanistan and Rwanda, in an effort to further connect women in business as they become the change agents for peace in countries where women face oppression and marginalization. In addition to her work with IEEW, Neese is also an inductee into the National and Oklahoma Women's Hall of Fames, as well as a past national president of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and past president of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP).
Neese will be presented with the Enterprising Women Legacy Award during the publication's Hall of Fame luncheon, which will honor the accomplishments of Neese and IEEW. She has been a longtime supporter of Enterprising Women and has written several articles for the magazine.
