KATONAH, NY, April 18, 2013 (Press-News.org) Jeri Kansas, a dance instructor at the Katonah Art Center, is the choreographer for the Kimono Fashion Show, held in the Vanderbilt Room of Grand Central Terminal. The show, which will feature 120 models in kimonos, will take place on April 19, 2013.
"We are very excited for Jeri," says Loren Anderson, founder and director of the Katonah Art Center. "We love it when our instructors get to show off their craft."
Jeri Kansas began her dance career at age 19, with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Call. She performed in the original productions of Sugar Babies with Anne Miller and Mickey Rooney, and the original production of 42nd Street. She also danced in Showboat, Chicago and The Music Man.
At the Katonah Art Center, Ms. Kansas teaches ballet, lyrical, tap and jazz. She taught a workshop on 42nd Street for the KAC's last open house.
"We say it all the time, but the Katonah Art Center really does have incredible instructors," adds Loren Anderson. "They show students what it's like to be artists in the real world."
