ASHEVILLE, NC, May 03, 2013 (Press-News.org) Moog Music is proud to announce that today its founder Dr. Robert Moog will be posthumously inducted in to the United States Patent and Trademark Office National Inventors Hall of Fame.
Dr. Moog is being awarded this honor for Patent No. 3475623, more commonly known to Moog fans as the Moog Ladder Filter. Moog Music, which will be hosting Moogfest, its annual celebration of the innovative spirit of Dr. Moog on April 25th-27th 2014, has creat-ed a video featuring Moog hardware engineer Rick Shaich discussing the importance and innovation of this creation. In the video, Shaich discusses the Ladder Filter, the first Voltage Controlled Filter, which is the heart and soul of the Moog modular synthesizers of the 60s, the Legendary Mini-moog of the 70's, and is still the same filter topology used in all Moog Synthesizers to this day. The Ladder Filter is an essential element of the massive, thick sound for which Moog instruments are renowned.
To celebrate this historic occasion Moog Music is reissuing the Moog Ladder Filter Tee, which is now available for pre-order and will ship with a free poster commemorating Bob Moog's induction to the National Inventors Hall of Fame.
