NKSJ Group Receives Honorable Mention Award at "4th Make a CHANGE Day Award

NKSJ Holdings, Inc. announced that NKSJ Group has been awarded the Honorable Mention Award at the 4th Make a CHANGE Day Award.

TOKYO, JAPAN, June 04, 2013 (Press-News.org) NKSJ Holdings, Inc. (President: Kengo Sakurada) announced that NKSJ Group has been awarded the Honorable Mention Award at the 4th Make a CHANGE Day Award. During the month of October 2012, the NKSJ Group organized activities across Japan as part of the NKSJ Volunteer Day program held to coincide with Make a CHANGE Day, a nationwide volunteer day organized by the Make a CHANGE Day Planning Committee. The Honorable Mention Award was presented in recognition of these activities. This is the second time that the NKSJ Group has received this award, following on from last year. The award ceremony was held on March 16, 2013 at the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology in Nagoya.

1. Overview of Make a CHANGE Day Award

The Make a CHANGE Day Planning Committee promotes volunteer activities by designating one day of the year, the fourth Saturday of each October (in 2012, October 27), as Make a CHANGE Day. On this day, people throughout Japan to concurrently take part in volunteer and community activities. The Make a CHANGE Day Award is juried and awarded by a panel of judges comprised of external members for activities carried out from October 1 to November 18, 2012, including on Make a CHANGE Day.

2. About the Honorable Mention Award

Following on from last year, this award recognized the activities that the NKSJ Group encouraged all of its employees to participate in across Japan as part of the NKSJ Volunteer Day program.

Some 10,000 employees nationwide participated in the NKSJ Volunteer Day activities. Fifty activities were organized in all areas of Japan, including in the fields of Great East Japan Earthquake support, international cooperation, nature and the environment, and welfare.

Specifically, activities included holding "Talk about Your Experience" sessions at which employees who took part in volunteer activities in the region hit by the Great East Japan Earthquake described their experiences. Other activities include those to give out handmade bags in the affected region, the collecting of secondhand books and old postage stamps, and the organization of training courses for people supporting those with dementia.
