NEW BERN, NC, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) Fairfield Harbour (http://www.fhpoa.com), a residential boating and golf community located 15 minutes from historic New Bern, has announced that Lloyd Moore, a resident of the community, has been named the 2013 North Carolina Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Volunteer of the Year for his leadership and continued active role in the Fairfield Harbour CERT (FH CERT) program. The program is comprised of volunteers dedicated to providing emergency aid to neighbors in case of a community emergency or natural disaster.
A FH CERT member since 2006, Moore is actively involved in the organization's operations and has served as the community's CERT director from 2010 to 2012. As FH CERT director, he was responsible for overseeing all area volunteers, designing drills and training programs as well as ensuring team readiness through leading ongoing training and meetings. Additionally, Moore worked closely with the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department chief and the director of Craven County Emergency Services to guarantee that all strategy for the CERT program supports the greater goals, safety procedures and mission of Fairfield Harbour and its residents. Moore now serves as an assistant director for FH CERT.
