MADRID, SPAIN, January 27, 2011 (Press-News.org) In 2010, more than 20,000 visitors came to see BODEGAS PROTOS' new facilities, drawn by the complete wine tourism experience that the company offers. From the moment the cellars opened their doors to the public in March of 2009, the influx of visitors has steadily increased, reaching more than 20,000 for the year 2010.
This is because BODEGAS PROTOS is the perfect getaway for anyone, any time, with plenty to offer, whether you are an architecture buff, a nature enthusiast or simply a lover of fine wine and world-class cuisine. Visitors are treated to a deluxe, information-filled, fully-guided tour of this spectacular hundred-year-old wine cellar where tradition meets innovation, learning first-hand how each of our wines is produced and experiencing every nuance of their fragrances, colours and flavours.
For only 10 Euros, visitors can enjoy a full 90-minute tour through the old aging cellar, which runs through 2km of subterranean galleries located beneath the mountain under Penafiel Castle. The tour ends up in the new cellar, designed by the prestigious British architect, Richard Rogers. This tour features a sampling of our Protos Verdejo and Protos Crianza, two of our finest aged wines.
However, PROTOS also offers more specialised tours, like the PROTOS Diversity Tour. This experience gives visitors the opportunity to sample four very distinct wines, including a white Verdejo, a Rose, a red Joven Roble and a Crianza, whilst receiving expert guidance on the organoleptic characteristics of each one.
For a really unique experience, try the PROTOS Great Selection Tour. After completing a full tour of the cellars, you will enjoy a guided sampling of three of our choicest wines. You can choose between the Crianza, Reserve and Select wines or the Reserve, Select and Grand Reserve wines
For those who want to immerse themselves completely in the Bodegas Proto experience, the choice is clear. The INTRODUCTION TO WINE TASTING COURSE provides four intensive hours of learning about history, architecture and the production of our wines, awakening all of the senses through a wide range of sensory exercises.
All tours must be reserved in advance by calling 659 843 463 or sending an email to enoturismo@bodegasprotos.com.
This is a sensory experience to last a lifetime.
