PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC, April 21, 2011 (Press-News.org) Next month's Volkswagen Prague Marathon will bring professional athletes and fun-runners from all over the world to the streets of the Czech capital.

Taking place at 09:00 local time on Sunday May 8th, the event starts and ends in the city's famous Old Town Square.

Athletes complete a 42.1-kilometre course that winds through each of Prague's neighbourhoods and along the banks of the Vltava River.

Known as one of the most beautiful marathon routes in the world, the course gives competitors a chance to put their powers of endurance to the test while exploring the city.

Registration is open until Sunday May 1st, with athletes required to pay an entry fee of EUR80 (GBP70.20).

For this price, participants will receive an official Adidas T-shirt, a marathon magazine, regular refreshments during the race and a commemorative medal at the finish line.

They will also be eligible for free public transport in Prague on the day of the event, using their start number as a ticket.

Non-runners are welcome to soak up the atmosphere and cheer on the competitors once the event gets underway.
