ItsOurSecret.org and ProSocial Media Design Announce the Launch of a New Web Site for ItsOurSecret.org Visitors
The growing organization now has room to grow as more local chapters are added.

ItsOurSecret.org and ProSocial Media have announced the launch of a new website for ItsOurSecret which can be viewed at http://www.itsoursecret.org.The new site provides users with an overview of the organization's mission, educational resources, and an opportunity to participate in the community
According to Burne Hill, founder of ItsOurSecret.org, the primary purpose of the organization is to provide information, education and a voice to those that have been victimized by others that have used their power by uttering those words: "It's our secret". Hill states that "Victims include children and adults that have felt overwhelmed or even powerless when someone, often a family member, asks them to keep a secret. Children don't often know how to react and are often subjected to additional abuses at the hands of parents or other authority figures."
As a child, Hill was victimized by a close family member who pressured him to keep quiet about an extra-marital affair that the relative was having. Hill was told that the incident was a secret - words that still bother Hill to this day. More than 30 years later, Hill felt compelled to start the organization so that others might learn the devastating effects of asking others, particularly children, to keep a secret.
The words "It's our secret" are also used in other situations that can be even more harmful. "Child molesters, particularly those that are close to the entire family, often might use those words to keep a child silent about the abuse. Children very often trust family members blindly and by making it a secret, the children often keep their tales of abuse to themselves," stated Hill. "I've even seen those words used in a business setting - and it has generally been a very inappropriate way to deal with people in a business environment."
The web site is a place for others to share their experiences, which Hill says is the best way to begin healing. "It took many years for me to understand that the use of those three little words: "it's our secret" was a form of abuse that rocked the very core of my existence and shaped the relationships I had. After sharing my experiences with my wife and close friends, I felt that there was a need for others to share their experiences to help them in their journey to healing." The web site was launched to offer advice to others and as a refuge for anyone that has had a traumatizing experience at the hands of another asking them to keep silent about something.
Founded in 2009 by Hill in Jacksonville, Florida, ItsOurSecret.org has recently launched a second group in Tampa, Florida. Hill hopes to have chapters in every state by the end of 2012. Those needing assistance can visit http://www.itsoursecret.org.
