Southeastern Engineering, Inc. (SEI) Provides Engineering Services for the City of Union City's TE (Transportation Enhancement) Project

2011-06-08
ATLANTA, GA, June 08, 2011 (Press-News.org) Southeastern Engineering Inc. (SEI), a woman-owned engineering and consulting firm headquartered in Marietta, Georgia, has been selected by the City of Union City to provide engineering services for Union City's Pedestrian TE (T) Project (PI 0009060).

SEI, a multi-disciplinary firm, is tasked with providing engineering documents for use in construction and procuring federal TE funds. Specific project tasks include ADA compliant sidewalk, signal modifications, drainage improvements, utility relocation & coordination, lighting and intersection improvements.

Chad Epple, Vice President of SEI and production manager overseeing the TE project, stated the biggest challenge facing the project is meeting the client's schedule. "Union City is committed to an aggressive deadline and is seeking to let this project for construction within 14 months. Although the project's TE funding source simplifies the GDOT's interpretation of the PDG process, there are still significant challenges with right-of-way and the environmental processes. Our project team's immediate focus is to simplify the environmental document. Careful project planning and innovative design techniques have resulted in early no adverse effect findings and have avoided the need to acquire additional right-of-way."

Understanding government requirements and how to address critical issues and possible set-backs on TE projects specifically enabled SEI to work efficiently with Union City and GDOT completing the project within the proposed timeline and budget.

Southeastern Engineering Incorporated (SEI) is a leading diversified woman-owned engineering and consulting company with extensive experience in civil (site development, transportation, traffic) engineering, land surveying, landscape architecture, land planning, 3D laser scanning and environmental/ecological consulting. Headquartered in Marietta, the Company is actively involved in transportation, aviation, mixed-use, multi-family, retail and residential development projects throughout the metro Atlanta area.
