AsiaRooms.com - Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race Coming to Malaysia

An internationally renowned racing event is taking place in Sepang to coincide with Malaysia Day this September.

2011-07-29
SELANGOR, MALAYSIA, July 29, 2011 (Press-News.org) Motor racing enthusiasts visiting Malaysia this September will be able to experience the excitement of the 2011 Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MMER).

The competition takes place between September 15th and 17th at the Sepang International Circuit and is the 12th edition of what has become one of Asia's biggest racing events.

Launched in 2000 as the first 12-hour endurance race organised and promoted by locals in Malaysia, the MMER challenges teams of three drivers to race in gruelling stints of at least 70 minutes.

Past races have attracted drivers and competitors from notable endurance series such as the Le Mans 24 Hours, Nurburgring 24 Hours and Dubai 24 Hours.

A statement from the organisers said the race is "one of the premier local Malaysian events with strong international recognition".

The 2011 MMER is likely to see a heightened carnival atmosphere, as this year's event is taking place in concurrence with the Malaysia Day celebrations on September 16th.

This national holiday is held annually to mark the foundation of the Malaysian federation in 1963.

Malaysia hotels such as the Empress Hotel Sepang are available for browsing on AsiaRooms.com for those wishing to attend MMER 2011.
