ATLANTA, GA, November 23, 2011 (Press-News.org) The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG), the state's leading association dedicated to the promotion and economic advancement of Georgia's technology industry, today announced the 2012 Georgia Technology Summit (GTS) will be held March 28 at the Cobb Galleria. The 9th annual event, featuring some of the top technology influencers in Georgia and across the nation, as well as the release of the annual State of the Industry: Technology in Georgia Report, is expected to top last year's record-breaking attendance of more than 1,000 people.
Farhad Manjoo, a technology columnist at Slate and Fast Company and a regular contributor to the New York Times will be speaking at the 2012 GTS. Manjoo has developed a large following in the tech community and he recently penned an article for Fast Company about the looming battle between tech behemoths Apple, Facebook, Google and Amazon for the future of the innovation.
"Mr. Manjoo has a great reputation as a technology writer and his perspectives on the industry are very insightful and thought provoking, making him a perfect fit for the Summit," said Tino Mantella, president and CEO of TAG. "The GTS is one of the largest annual gatherings of the technology community in our state and we pride ourselves on selecting engaging speakers for this event who can spark inspiration and discussion throughout the community. We are excited to announce Mr. Manjoo as our first speaker and will be revealing our full line-up in the next few months."
The Georgia Technology Summit is TAG's flagship event that brings together C-level executives, entrepreneurs, technology professionals and academia to celebrate and recognize Georgia's technology community. This year's theme, Innovation: The Path to a Bright Future, builds upon TAG's public awareness campaign to promote Georgia's technology industry through an emphasis on the fastest-growing tech clusters in the state, including health IT, information security, financial technology, logistics and communication services. According to experts, clusters bring about more resources which leads to greater innovation.
