LateRooms.com - Explore Tutankhamun His Tomb and His Treasures near Dusseldorf

Cologne's EXPO XXI venue is set to host a display of the burial chamber of iconic Egyptian boy-king Tutankhamun.

2010-09-23
DUSSELDORF, GERMANY, September 23, 2010 (Press-News.org) Tourists staying in Dusseldorf next month will be able to gain a unique insight into one of history's most famous figures if they visit Tutankhamun His Tomb and His Treasures.

The exhibition is being held in the nearby city of Cologne's EXPO XXI venue and is set to open on September 24th 2010, with its run booked until March 20th 2011.

Dusseldorf hotel guests who make the journey to explore the display will be treated to the world's only museum-quality replica of the iconic boy-king's tomb and its treasures, which the organisers have described as being "fascinating".

Archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun's burial chamber in 1922 and since then, the ancient Egyptian ruler has become famous throughout the world.

For the first time, people are now able to explore the surroundings of the tomb in all their three-dimensional glory if they visit EXPO XXI.

The exhibition is likely to prove popular, given that the organisers have claimed many people are still just as fascinated by the legend of the ruler now as they were when his remains were first discovered.

"His mysterious, premature death and unique legacy are the stuff of legend," they explained.

Anyone staying in Dusseldorf who is keen to check out the attraction should not find it too tough to fit it into their plans, as it will be open every day between 10:00 and 18:00 local time.

However, it will be closed on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Furthermore, the trip to Cologne should not prove too tricky, with the venue stating the two cities are separated by a 35-minute drive.

Alternatively, people who do not have a car with them can catch a train to Cologne Central Station, before taking a two-minute trip on either lines S6, S11 or S13 to the stop at Hansaring, which is located near to the venue.

For more information on this event, visit the EXPO XXI website or contact the venue on (+49) 221 355 770.
