Staxxon Signs-on as Sponsor of South by Southwest (SXSW) Eco Conference October 3-5 2012 in Austin, Texas
2012-08-01
MONTCLAIR, NJ, August 01, 2012 (Press-News.org) Staxxon, developers of space-slot compression technology that drives sustainable uses of steel shipping containers based on IMO/ISO standards, joins the Sierra Club and The Austin Chronicle as a sponsor of SXSW Eco. SXSW Eco is a three-day conference addressing the need for a concerted, cross sector approach to solving the recognized challenges facing the economy, the environment and civil society. In its second year, SXSW Eco will be held October 3-5, 2012 at the AT&T Conference Center in Austin, Texas.

"SXSW Eco looks forward to partnering with Staxxon to help raise awareness about the environmental impacts of the shipping industry, and promote sustainable logistics solutions," said Scott Wilcox, director of SXSW Eco."Staxxon is a positive example of how technology can provide breakthrough products to create a more lean and productive business."

"SXSW Eco is a terrific forum for engaging with major brands and thought leaders focused on sustainable supply chain and shipping initiatives," said Tom Stitt, marketing director at Staxxon. "We are excited to lend our support and voice to addressing the challenges of developing sustainable approaches to supply chain and logistics management."

Staxxon has developed, patented, prototyped and obtained certifications for shipping container technology that allows up to 5 empty steel shipping containers to be folded, nested, moved and stored in the same space and time and at the same cost as 1 empty shipping container.

Sustainability Benefits of the Staxxon Space-Slot Compression Technology

- One (1) diesel truck with chassis can bring five (5) empty containers to a port instead of five (5) trucks, reducing traffic congestion, noise and air pollution for neighborhoods located in close proximity to ports.

- Five (5) empty shipping containers can be moved and loaded onto (or unloaded from) a container ship in the same space and time as 1 empty container, reducing load/unload time and providing ocean carriers with more slow steaming options.

- The cost and carbon footprint for moving repurposed shipping containers to job sites for housing or storage is reduced with up to five (5) repurposed housing or shelter containers moved in the same space as one (1) empty container by ship, train or truck.

To schedule a meeting at SXSW Eco 2012, contact Tom Stitt - tstitt@staxxon.com, @tstitt or @staxxon on Twitter or call/text +1.650.523.4944.
