Start the New Year Out Write for 2013 -- Jam-Packed January Events and Classes from Scriptwriters Network

Scriptwriters Network is planning an exciting year ahead for 2013! A nonprofit organization dedicated to education and nurturing networking opportunities for established, emerging and aspiring Screenwriters in Film, Television, and Entertainment.

For Writers, Screenwriters and people who like to write or who appreciate good writing, Scriptwriters Network has a calendar full of classes, seminars and speaker panels for 2013 starting with four big events in January!

"Mastering the Power of Story," with Dr. Patrick A. Horton, better known in Hollywood as The Story Coach. Learn the story of transformation and how to transform your story. Discover how to take charge of your stories, as well as your life, your work, and your career.

This special two-day event will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 5-6, 2013 at the Beverly Garland Hotel in North Hollywood, California. Seminar runs from 9:00am to 6:00pm, and is co-sponsored by Scriptwriters Network and Write Brothers, Inc. with net proceeds going to support nonprofit organization Scriptwriters Network. Tuition for the two-day seminar is $225 for General Public, $149 (one-third off) professional discount for Scriptwriters Network, SAG/AFTRA, Writers Guild, Directors Guild, NSA, Women in Film (WIF), Film Independent (FIND), Filmmakers Alliance, and the Organization of Black Screenwriters. $99 for members of Scriptwriters Network and previous attendees who have taken and paid for this course before. On Saturday, January 12, 2013 a panel discussion with top television writers on "What It Takes To Work on Successful TV Shows." Speakers include Glenn Mazzara (showrunner of The Walking Dead, Executive Producer or Producer on HawthoRNe, Crash, Life, and The Shield), Alex Cary (Co-Executive Producer of Homeland, and Lie To Me), Dan O'Shannon (Writer/Producer on Modern Family, Better Off Ted, Back to You, Jericho, Frasier), Janet Tamaro (Creator/Writer/Producer/Showrunner Rizzoli & Isles, Producer on Trauma, Bones, Sleeper Cell, CSI: NY), and Vanessa Taylor (Writer/Producer Hope Springs, Game of Thrones, Jack & Bobby, Everwood, Alias). Saturday, January 26, 2013 "Sell Your Movie Without The Middleman" with Jason Brubaker. When he was unable to get a traditional distribution deal for his first feature, Jason figured out how to market and sell his movie online. Showing independent filmmakers how to maximize movie profits without the middleman in his easy to follow, step-by-step system. Event starts at 1:00, check-in starts at 12:30 and will be held at The Showbiz Store and Cafe in Westwood. Event is free for Scriptwriters Network members, $25 for non-members. Focused on education and learning, Scriptwriters Network has four or more events a month. Classes or seminars cover the craft of writing, or business aspects of being a writer, plus a speaker panel series with leading professionals in the industry. The first Friday of every month is a Friday Night Social, a free event open to members, non-members and the general public held at a local restaurant in Los Angeles.

Scriptwriters Network also sponsors Writing Groups located across the Los Angeles area, Pasadena, Inland Empire, Santa Ana, Long Beach plus Ventra County; in Berkeley, California; Boston, Massachusetts; and Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas. Plus contests like High Concept Screenplay Competition, Hollywood Outreach Program and a TV Outreach Program to discover fresh screenplays and new voices. Special events such as three-day Writing Marathons, and Pitch Boot Camps at screenwriting expos and pitch festivals across the U.S. Other programs include a Staged Reading Series, Script Analysis Readers Classes, Writing Fellowships, a college Intern Program, and Youth Fellowship for high school students.

$90 annual membership covers free attendance at 30+ events and classes a year. That's about $3 per class, designed to be an affordable way to attend meetings, to network and to learn. Plus access to an online Members Only section with a library of articles on Screenwriting and videos from past classes, seminars and panels on a variety of topics.
