Quality Sound Prevails as Challenging Weather Conditions Envelop The Governors Ball Music Festival Silent Disco, Powered by Sennheiser

Mud is No Match for Premium Audio, As Sennheiser Hosts Silent Disco for Second Year in a Row at Leading Music Festival

2013-06-13
NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2013 (Press-News.org) For the second year in a row, audio specialist Sennheiser hosted the silent disco at The Governors Ball on Randall's Island in New York City, held last weekend. At this year's silent disco, partygoers were unfazed by the muddy grounds surrounding the festival, courtesy of Tropical Storm Andrea — which hit the New York metro area during the festival's first day. Despite unhospitable weather conditions that were less than favorable on the feet, Sennheiser's silent disco proved to be a popular destination, providing a top-shelf DJ entertainment, premium sound quality and a dry, temporary repreive from the outdoors.

Festival goers waited over 30 minutes in line for their turn to dance to the sounds of Tommie Sunshine, Mr Bonkerz, Alan Blancato and other top DJs, who were spinning tunes between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. each day during the festival. Each fan was provided with a pair of lightweight, premium quality Sennheiser wireless headphones to tune in to the experience, while dancing with friends and frolicking in the mud.

"The silent disco was one of the best draws at the festival this year and was a great place for music fans to forget about the terrible conditions outside," said Kristen Mukai, producer and coordinator of The Silent Disco powered by Sennheiser. "All of the DJs appreciate having such a first rate audio system in place, and it really creates a more intimate experience for the fans. Sennheiser has once again proven they know how to throw a party and I hope they come again next year!"

During the evening hours, the silent disco tent was transformed into a luminous beacon amidst the darkened festival ground, illuminated by colored lights, strobes and a mirrorball. This added a suitable psychedelic touch to the multi-sensory audio experience as the party continued into the night.

Once again, Sennheiser's HD-25 DJ headphones proved to be a favorite piece of equipment among the headlining artists. "I love the HD-25s because they completely isolate me from other sounds around me so I can concentrate on what I'm doing," says Mr Bonkerz, a Washington, D.C.-based DJ who performed on Saturday afternoon. "Audio coming through the HD-25 is always crisp, and never distorts. This is is the reason so many DJs have been using the Sennheiser HD-25 for so many years."

The Governors Ball Festival is just one example of the many events around the world that Sennheiser has supported with its wireless headphone technology, including the international-ly renowned Cannes Film Festival last month. "During a silent disco such as this, the most interesting aspect of the technology is what you can't see," commented Tim Moore, artist rela-tions manager at Sennheiser. "The Sennheiser wireless technology used to broadcast audio to these headphones is nothing short of world-class, and is the same technology used by many of the world's biggest touring musical artists."
