Dr. Jonathan Kunis Opens Addiction Medicine Practice

Dr. Kunis Provides Compassionate, Respectful Addiction and Recovery Services in Sarasota, Florida

SARASOTA, FL, March 27, 2013 (Press-News.org) Jonathan Kunis, MD, has opened an addiction and recovery services practice in the University Health Park, 2401 University Parkway, Suite 200, Sarasota, Florida.

The practice provides an office-based outpatient treatment program for people afflicted with addiction to drugs and alcohol, and takes a multidisciplinary approach to the new and expanding area of addiction medicine.

"We help patients find a new way to live, free from the destructive influence of chemical dependence," said Dr. Kunis. "Our goal is to help these individuals reclaim their lives, learn how to live successfully without the use of mood-altering drugs and find happiness and peace in life."

Dr. Kunis has 30 years of medical experience as an internist, anesthesiologist and addiction medicine physician. He is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Certified Addiction Professional and a member of both the American Society and Florida Society of Addiction Medicine. A graduate of New York Medical College, he served six years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

Dr. Kunis most recently served as the Medical Director of Hazelden in Naples, Florida. Prior to that, he was the Assistant Medical Director of HealthCare Connection of Tampa. Both are residential treatment facilities for chemical dependence and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. He has been a Manatee County resident for more than 19 years.

"Our goal and vision is to provide a comprehensive, office-based, outpatient treatment program that will be state of the art, evidence-based and provided on an individual basis with compassion, empathy, dignity and respect," he said.

Dr. Kunis has partnered with Benson Ciotti West, serving as Medical Director for this new, comprehensive intensive outpatient addiction treatment program in Sarasota.
